Castle of Paderna

Immagine del castello

The austere profile, the strong walls and a still plenty of water moat make the visitors go back to past. Already known in the IX century, in 1453 it became property of Marazzini family from Rimini, ancestors of the actual owners, the noble Pettorelli family. In the XV century the castle took the current shape: an elegant small fortress with a big courtyard, once used for agriculture, and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta characterized by a Greek cross plan with columns of even older origin. Currently the castle, become a stately house, is also a biological and educational farm, often location of events concerning agriculture.
