Castle of San Pietro in Cerro

Immagine del castello

Situated in the province of Piacenza on the border with Parma and Cremona, it was built by Bartolomeo Barattieri, advisor and ambassador at the court of Pope Julius II, whose family kept it until 1993. The castle has in its inside thirty richly furnished rooms, two halls of honour, kitchens and dungeons. The garret provides space for Mim, Museum in Motion, a collection of more than four hundred works of art – paintings, sculptures and drawings – by contemporary, Italian and foreign artists with a section dedicated to Piacenza painters. The historical library (with at about 2,000 volumes) can be consulted on request.
