Rocca d'Olgisio
Situated on a rocky spur overlooking the valleys of Tidone and Chiarone streams, it’s one of the oldest and most suggestive fortresses of our territory. Surrounded by six defensive walls, it was built at about the year 1000. In 1378, after having passed on from one owner to another one, Gian Galeazzo Visconti gave it to Jacopo Dal Verme, brave winner of the Battle of Alessandria against Florence.
The fortress (that offers also a few rooms as B&B), presents an irregular plan with just one entrance situated on the northern side that can be reached following a steep and panoramic street. The donjon is formed by many communicating rooms and a small XVI century open gallery.
